Laying in His Peace, Words of my Heart by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

We are turning the point of a year since my dad continued on to be with the Father.  So many things taught by my parents were joint, but the list making and the process of making decisions and weighing all aspects was definitely my Dad's strongest asset.

We have all the pieces to put together our lives as God has in His plans for us, no different than this puzzle in progress.  Our lives are in progress.  Sometimes you pick up a piece and try it in place and it does not fit.  You release it and try another until you find the piece that fits right there. In doing puzzles it is common to sort out the like pieces in different places so if you are working on the sky, you go to the sky pieces, or working on a pink building, go to the pink building pieces. You don't waste time trying out sky on the pink building.

In life we know the difference between our choices as well and can sort them out. Our hearts are often leading us in places our brain would never go. That is when it is time to pray and open your heart to Him to light the way so your heart and head have to get out of the way.  It is very hard to let go because it is a common trait for all of us to want to control our lives.

The Father knows what piece is ready for your life. Time to get out of the way and let Him lay in His piece... or is it His Peace.

His Favor is like Rain in Spring, Words of my Heart by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

When a king’s face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.  Proverbs 16:15

It is February and it feels like early spring in Texas. I took this picture on a walk at the arboretum in Dallas.  Soon God's favor will bring the warmth needed to encourage the trees to bud and the bulbs to push further through the newly warm soil.  Life will spring forward.

We are a little over a week from the beginning of Lent. My heart is beginning to prepare itself to push forward and spring into life and light preparing for what is ahead.

How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to get insight rather than silver! Proverbs 16:16

Choosing wisely, Words of my heart, Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.

Get your Cake and Eat it too...Words of my Heart by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat—  part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived, for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.  1 Samuel 30:11-12

I noticed in the bible that when the word 'cake' comes up it is referencing raisin cakes.  There are many raisin cake recipes out on the interent but I chose to try an all vegan one.

Truthfully Terry was not in for 'loving it.  It reminded me of a pumpkin bread or banana bread, not real sweet but the glaze brought a bit of sweetness. The glaze was made with pure maple syrup. Had the grandchildren been here they would have gulped it down with pleasure. They are always more open to something when it is primed with a bit of sweetness.

God offers us so much more... primed with His pure love for us.  Too often we are not 'in' for it and we are off going our own direction.  God is offering us our 'cake' and the ability to eat it too.  Might be worth consideration. Are you hungry?

The Best Seat in the House, Words of the heart by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

“When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place.  But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.
Luke 14:8-10

It's truly the best seat in the house, well actually the best seat outside the house.  This family swing is going on 15 years old and has been at all our homes...making them homes. Here it at the lake it has even been more special as the view overlooks the big lake as well as Golden Pond.  Morning, afternoon or evening... it is the best seat in the house. It is from here you see constantly the beauty that God has created. It is from here you mediate and find a peace that you have never known.

Each of us has a place in our lives that offers this joy in our homes.  This is the seat we offer to guests and family when they visit. Take the time today to sit in that seat and pray...giving thanks for the bounty He brings to you each day.
